Getting Started with ManagerBhai: Set Up Your Business in 30 Minutes
A step-by-step checklist to go from a fresh account to your first invoice — company, chart of accounts, opening balances, items, customers and your team.
Signing up takes a minute. Getting your business ready takes a little longer — but if you follow this order, you will raise your first proper invoice in about half an hour, with books that balance from day one.
Step 1 — Tell ManagerBhai about your business
Open Accounts → Company and add your business name, address, phone, NTN and logo. If you run more than one business, add each one here; every report can later be filtered by company.
Step 2 — Check your settings
Open Settings from the left sidebar and go through the tabs:
- System Settings — currency, date format, financial year and how deletions work.
- Form Prefixes — how your document numbers look, e.g.
INV-,PV-,BILL-. - Print Settings — logo, header, footer and colours on printed invoices.
- Inventory & Costing — how stock is costed.
Step 3 — Review the Chart of Accounts
ManagerBhai ships with a ready chart of accounts organised into Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Income and Expenses. Visit Accounts → Chart of Accounts, rename anything that does not fit your business, and add your cash-in-hand accounts. Add your bank accounts from Banking → Accounts.
Step 4 — Enter opening balances
Pick a clean cut-off date — usually the first day of a month. Then:
- Enter cash, bank, loan and capital balances in Accounts → Opening Balance.
- Enter what each customer owes you and what you owe each supplier.
- Enter quantity and cost of every item in Inventory → Opening Stock.
When you are done, your trial balance should match the closing figures of your old books.
Step 5 — Add items, customers and vendors
Add products in Inventory → View Items, customers in Sales → Customers and suppliers in Purchases → Vendors. You can also add them on the fly from inside an invoice — handy when a new customer walks in.
Step 6 — Invite your team
Click your name at the top right → User Management to add users, then User Permissions to decide what each role can see and do. A cashier might only need POS; your accountant needs Accounts and Reports.
Step 7 — Raise your first invoice
Go to Sales → Invoice → New, pick a customer, add items and save. Look at what happened behind the scenes: stock went down, the customer balance went up and a balanced entry landed in your ledgers — all from one screen.
